Description
Warm Baked Brie with Figs and Pecans is an easy appetiser that brings together creamy melted Brie, sweet figs, crunchy pecans and a generous drizzle of honey. Finished with fresh thyme and a touch of black pepper, this simple baked cheese dish is perfect for sharing with crackers or toasted baguette.
Ingredients
8 oz (225 g) wheel of Brie cheese
4 fresh figs, halved, or 1/2 cup dried figs, chopped
2 tbsp honey
2 tbsp chopped pecans
1/2 tsp fresh thyme leaves
Pinch of black pepper
Crackers or sliced baguette
Extra honey, optional
Fresh thyme, for garnish
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the Brie wheel in a small oven-safe baking dish or on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
2. Arrange the halved fresh figs around and over the Brie. If using dried figs, scatter the chopped pieces evenly around the cheese.
3. Sprinkle the chopped pecans over the Brie and figs. Drizzle generously with honey, then finish with fresh thyme and a small pinch of black pepper.
4. Bake for 12–15 minutes, until the Brie is soft and warm but still holding its shape. Keep an eye on the cheese during the final few minutes and avoid overbaking, as the Brie can become too runny.
5. Remove the baked Brie from the oven and drizzle with a little extra honey if desired. Garnish with fresh thyme and serve immediately with crackers or slices of toasted baguette.
Notes
Don’t overbake the Brie. It should be soft and warm while still holding its shape.
Both fresh and dried figs work well. Use 4 fresh figs, halved, or 1/2 cup dried figs, chopped.
Add the honey generously to complement the sweetness of the figs and richness of the Brie.
Serve immediately while the Brie is warm and soft.
Crisp baguette slices provide a delicious contrast to the creamy cheese.
Place the warm Brie in the centre of a serving board and surround it with crackers or toasted baguette.
The recipe uses a whole wheel of Brie and does not specify removing the rind.
This dish is best served immediately after baking.
Extra honey and fresh thyme can be added just before serving.
